![]() So if zerg had the best answer to every army type and the best economy but those answers are made up of the weakest end game units + Protoss has the worst army composition but strongest individual units + Terran is somewhere in the middle on both, I’d say that’s balanced in its own right for everyone aside from the top 1000 SC2 players in the world since HOTS. And ghosts are great if used correctly as are window mines. HERES THE RUB: Terran takes the longest to expand, uses their scvs for long periods of time to build structures, BUT has the second strongest army and second best unit composition due to the healing of BIO and the strength and range of mech is only matched by Protoss who actually uses more supply per unit than Terran mech on avg. The upside is that terran can mule and quickly balance out the economic advantage of a zerg or Protoss. Reactors are great at making this more fair, but it isn’t as quick as Protoss warp ins or zergs ability to inject and hatch. They cannot remax nearly as fast with anything other than barracks units. Terran is completely different as they use traditional RTS mechanics to get the job done. IE: 1 chargelot vs a marine (no vac) or vs a few lings is going to be a win if done properly. Toss has the least amount of units overall and none are dirt cheap either but all are strong. Using 2 SCVs to build depots and structures instead of just being able to shift click 8 gates is big advantage. The ability of one probe to insta plop down structures saves precious mining time in the beginning where it matters most. Economically, having chrono speeds up droning (probing) over Terran but not over zerg who can spawn a half dozen drones in 12 seconds due to larva. Not quite as good as having a few dozen larvae at your disposal with a handful of hatcheries and injects IMO especially considering zerg is so mobile and uses kamikaze cheap units that are rebuilt almost instantly. I consider them the “in between race” as they have decent remax time with warp capabilities which is instant but only works with gateway units. Not much Protoss can do against a well diversified army run by serral, but if it’s just a diamond league ladder game, the ability of high temp psi storm, disruptors, carriers, etc is OP. Protoss to me is the strongest race in terms of individual units but with the least amount of diversity and ability to have a counter to absolutely anything. Again the issue is that it’s very hard to micro properly and needs constant flanking, harass and run by via banes/lings. I’ll take a diamond or masters Protoss over a zerg any day in the late game, but once again the zerg have an edge in the mid game due to econ and the fact that their mid game army (ravager, roaches, queens, banes, lings) can on its own hold a late game army of the other two races on the pro level. This may be a way of balancing the fact that while zerg has the fastest production, it’s not the hardest hitting late game unless you’re getting into pro level play. creep spread is also a huge home field advantage that gives vision, speed, etc and no other race has anything like this. ![]() They also can deal with any unit of any race using banes vipers, corrupters, lurkers, queens etc. They also have the weakest units individually though. ![]() I think Zerg has the best unit composition and ability to remax/expand.
